Eileen brings her passion for sustainability, experience in environmental consulting and background in environmental chemistry and engineering research to the projects for Ecosystem Analytics.
For the past 4 years, Eileen has developed a deep understanding of the management, creation, and verification of corporate sustainability reporting through her role as a technical assessor with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Partnered with ANSI, she has evaluated how EPDs, PCRs, and General Program Instructions are created and verified, and has assessed international certification bodies operating ecolabel programs. She is a Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCACP), skilled in life cycle assessment (LCA) and an ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor. As a consultant at other firms, she helped commercial and industrial clients assess the potential for environmental contamination and developed remediation scenarios for the cleanup of heavy metal, radioactive, and hydrocarbon-contaminated industrial sites. She has over 15 years of experience in technical writing and scientific publishing and especially enjoys making highly technical topics comprehensible to a wide variety of audiences.
Eileen received her undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at Northwestern University. Wanting to better understand the production, fate, and transport of pollutants, she obtained her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at Princeton University. At Princeton, she became an expert in environmental chemistry, specializing in the transformations of methylmercury in the environment. Eileen also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences at Harvard University specializing in heavy metal remediation strategies. Eileen has also taught classes in quantitative problem solving in the Sustainability and Environmental Management Program at the Harvard University Extension School.
