Eileen Ekstrom, director of Ecosystem Analytics Inc., recently became a Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCACP).This certification program, run by the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA) since 2008, consists of standards for educational and professional background, successfully passing a 3.5 hour multiple choice exam on all aspects of Life Cycle Assessments, and continuing technical education. The certification exam covers ISO LCA standards, life cycle inventory (LCI), Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA), modeling, software, statistics, and data quality management. All LCACP must also adhere to a professional code of conduct. There are currently only approximately 50 LCACP working in the field.
